European Gastronomy

Obviously one of the things we really enjoy here at Thriving Wives, is eating. This couldn't have been more true for TH (Thriving Husband) and I when we spent a month in Europe for our honeymoon - or as I like to say, eating our way through Europe. We visited Greece, Italy, Spain and France - home to some of my most favorite cuisine. We were traveling on a budget, but that didn't stop us from enjoying every bit of food we ate there. In fact just the other day I was craving a baguette with brie and salami, our go-to lunch in Paris.

So of course because we were eating all this delicious food, I had to chronicle it!

Santorini, Greece: I have an obsession with Falafel.

Santorini: Saganaki, or fried cheese with brandy.

Rome, Italy: the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life, from a little pizzeria below our B&B. Tomatoes & mushrooms... plus a Coca Cola with REAL sugar!

Tuscany, Italy: Wine is pretty much a food group here.

Tuscany: Gnocchi with truffles. Yes, those are ALL truffles.

Tuscany: Stuffed pork pasta pillows with wild boar sauce.

Venice, Italy: Open air market right outside our hotel. We had fresh fruit cups every morning, but look at those pretty peppers!

Venice: Freshly made vegetarian pizza (eggplant, zucchini, green beans, peas, & spinach) eaten on the steps of the canals.

Venice: Traditional venetian seafood pasta.

Barcelona, Spain: TAPAS!! Possibly my favorite way to eat, lots of little bites.

Barcelona: Tapas for every meal, and I just love olives.

Barcelona: True Spanish Gazpacho, need to learn how to recreate!

Paris, France: Despite having been to Italy, this was the best mushroom risotto I've ever had, at a tiny little restaurant.

Paris: Pork chops with mustard sauce - this was TH's meal but I practically drank that sauce it was so good.

Paris: Warm chestnut & pumpkin soup with foie gras ice cream.

Paris: Scallops, potatoes and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Divine.

Paris: Baked pears with bechamel ice cream

Paris: Couldn't leave without some LadureƩ macarons.
Stay tuned for more on my "Euromoon"! Traveling is probably the best way in which I "Strive to Thrive" so I'd love to share my journeys with you.

    1. It was a lot of work to plan but WELL worth it! If we didn't have 5 weeks to travel I could've definitely just stayed in Italy, it was by far our favorite country and we only saw a tiny portion of it. Good luck with planning, you know you can always get in touch if you need some help!!!
