Well, after watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (a few times) and wanting to do something different for her health, my mom jumped on the juice train, and HARD. She committed herself to a 45-day detox. My reaction, “Mom, are you nuts? You are going to die! I don’t know about this, you should probs to meet with a doctor first”… I mean honestly mom, that is just straight cray.
But TM (Thriving Mom) being the diehard momma that she is, had no problem knocking out a food free 45-days. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. I mean, it takes a lot of dedication to be sitting at numerous dinner parties and fine restaurants just chatting and pushing a small portion of food around your plate for looks. She never wanted to call attention to the fact she was juicing. So she just participated in the time old tradition, fake it to make it. When she was with friends or family, she would just chat it up and no one really noticed. It made me think about society as a whole. Why does everything we do revolve around food? Why do we live to eat and not eat to live? Shouldn’t getting together with loved ones be about the time we spent engrossed in great conversation and not stuffing our faces with food?
My amazing mother not only lost some serious lbs, but she was a new woman. She was energized, totally cleaned out and really loving her new and improved juicing life. As per usual, I had to copy her and that meant I needed to purchase a juicer. So, I used some left over wedding gift cards and got online cash in with Sur La Table. Only a few days later, the new love of my life moved in… my Breville Steel Beauty Juicer!
I decided I too wanted my family to partake in a little “reboot”. I enlisted my amazing TH got pumped for some serious juicing! We set a goal of ten days of pure, honest to goodness juice.
This detox/reboot happened while Thriving Wives was only a distant dream, so I decided to share our journey with friends and family via email. Now that TW is a dream come true, I wanted to share it with you. I have broken it down into daily installments to make reading a little easier, I hope you enjoy the juicing journey as much as we did!
Stay tuned for Em's daily juicing journey!
