Turning Garden Lemons into Lemonade

There is nothing I love more right now then lemonade.  I want it all day and night.  I want it in a freeze version or straight up over ice.  I don't care how it comes, I just want it.  I hope you can imagine my delight when my neighbors dropped a bag of huge, yellow lemons on my doorstep.  I nearly more driving to Hot Dog on a Stick for me, I could finally make my own; straight from the garden into my glass!

While I knew homemade lemonade was nothing more than lemon juice, sugar and water, I wanted to make sure I had it 100% right before getting started.  I double checked on Simply Recipes and was pleased that what I knew was in fact correct.  It didn't take much at all to make all my sour/sweet dreams come true.

All I needed was:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup lemon juice (4-6 lemons depending on size)
  • 3-4 cups (or more for me) cold water to dilute

I multiplied everything by two since I was going to double this recipe and make a big pitcher of lemonade all for myself (well and the twins of course).  I quickly peeled my massive lemons, got out my old friend Mr. Juicer and started to heat up my 2 cups water and 2 cups sugar.  As the sugar heated up and dissolved into the water, I started juicing away ready to get some serious liquid lemon tart.

Juice, it's as easy as 1, 2, 3.
With the sugar water solution done, and my lemon juice perfectly measured, I started the pouring process.  Into my pitcher first went the lemon juice, followed by the sugar water.  

With my mixture complete, I filled my pitcher to the brim with cold water and put it in the fridge to "rest".  30 minutes later I found myself pacing and salivating, it was time to give it a try. OOOHHHHHHH YEEAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!  Simply perfect! Better than any old Country Time could offer! I still was going to need to water down that bad boy as it was way to strong for me.  I like it light, which worked out perfectly as I got to thinking how long this would last least a week!

I poured myself a glass on ice, added a bit more water to my cup and sipped the day away.  I was in heaven!  Looking forward to my next batch of lemons so I can keep this easy recipe on hand at all times.
