Trash or Treasure? DIY Wooden Coat Rack

Ever since I made my own recycled wooden sign with the help of my girl Shell, I have become rather wood obsessed.  So, you can imagine how much I freaked out when I spotted a huge pile of it getting thrown away by my neighbor.  Were they nuts?!  I sweetly walked over, knocked on the door and asked if they would mind if I took that pile off their hands.  They quickly obliged and I sprinted back home to grab my strong TH and my wagon...we had to load up!

I hit the JACKPOT!!

There were endless possibilities swirling through my mind...knobs...hooks...painted messages....modge podged fine paper...I mean, I was seriously FREAKING OUT!  I would ultimately never have to buy a gift again.  I could craft everyone's presents FOREVER!  So, if you are reading this and know you have a birthday, wedding, engagement or really anything coming up....be prepared to get a woodsy gift!

I decided to start my first wooden project using some Anthropologie hooks I had recently purchased with my fancy discount (thanks again Shell!).  I grabbed a nice looking, yet worn slab of wood, set up my hooks and asked my TH to get drillin'!

My first victim
New Anthro hooks, 40% off baby!

Hard working TH...

Within minutes I had an amazing, vintage-esque coat rack for next to nothing.  Granted, I did buy these hooks, but I already had TONS of other knobs, hooks and paint sitting in my garage, so I was still doing really well for myself.

With the hooks in place, my TH flipped over that bad boy and added the brackets so whoever received this awesome present would be able to hang it wherever they desired.

Another couple minutes later, we were DONE!  It was just perfect and I was so excited to see the receiver's face when they unwrapped this cutie!

With Christmas right around the corner, I have lots of trash to convert into treasures.  Next up, another message painted with love!
