Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes...with Bourbon!

  bourbon pumpkin pie milkshakes

It is not a secret that I really love pumpkin spice season.  I wait for it all year and then go absolutely hog wild purchasing anything pumpkin I can get my hands on. From candles to M&M's, creamer, muffins, pancake mix, bagels, cream cheese, ice cream, eggnog...I mean ANYTHING pumpkin and am I ALL IN! So, naturally, when I happened upon this recipe for pumpkin pie milkshakes, from How Sweet It Is,  it was a done deal.  Throw in the fact that the recipe calls for bourbon...well, I was just about sprinting to the blender.

The recipe called for:
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cream or half and half
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup pureed pumpkin
  • 1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2-3 ounces of bourbon
  • Frosting + sprinkles (or cinnamon sugar) for glasses

***I rimmed my glasses with pumpkin spice eggnog and graham crackers instead***

First up, I put in my ice cream, milk as well as half and half.

Next, I added the pumpkin puree, vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice.

Lastly, I added the graham crackers and a nice slug of bourbon...then hit BLEND!  With blending in full swing, I prepped my glasses.  One quick dip in pumpkin spice eggnog (yes it does exist) then another dip into some crushed grahams.  This was nearly too much for me....I was SOOOOO excited!

With my glasses rimmed in the most perfect spicy crust, I poured in this pumpkin heaven.  With a sprinkle of cinnamon and another little crumble of graham crackers I was ready to serve!

Thank you SO much How Sweet It Is for this amazing recipe.  It is fair to say, if I have to undergo any sort of procedure that demands my jaw be closed and I can only drink liquids...I'll be having this daily!  Not only was it a perfect Autumn treat, but just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.  How about this when family gets into town Wednesday night?!
