Recipe Rave Review: Whole Wheat Veggie Pizza Buns

I am a "use in what you've got" kind of girl.  If I need to whip up dinner on the fly, I race to my pantry and fridge to see what I have to work with.

Thankfully, when this recipe came to me I randomly had some whole wheat buns left over from TH's firehouse dinner of the week.  I knew I had some veggies that I needed to use and so I got to personal pizza making.


With my skillet sizzlin' I threw in some olive oil and let that get nice and hot before tossing in some chopped onions. Once those cuties were good and brown, I threw in mushrooms, asparagus and garlic to keep on cooking.  While that sauteed, I toasted my buns, spread a bit of organic tomato sauce and added a touch of provolone.  Once tossed in the oven to broil on high, I got back to my veggies and stirred those puppies up.


Within minutes, my veggies were done and ready to add to the cheesy bun goodness getting gooey in the oven.  I pulled out those buns, added a heaping scoop of veggies and put them back in for a few minutes to really melt together.


Five minutes later, I had plenty of personal pizzas for the TH and myself, loaded with veggies on a hearty whole wheat bun...YUMMO!!!

Another fast and healthy meal on the fly... YES!
